We’ve had the absolute privilege of having a wide ranging conversation with Sensei James Hatch who lives and works in Tokyo. We covered his experiences of Karate, in comparison to both western and Japanese culture, not only how it is practiced but also viewed broadly and taught. As a historian he also gave us a great deep dive on the history of Japanese martial arts and Karate in particular.
It’s a fascinating and long episode so dive on in!
The sound quality isn’t quite where we would like it to be as we recorded this on Skype (our first shot at it) and did a little technical work to smooth it out.
Hope you all like it. please get in touch with all your comments and questions.
